The Truth About Flexibility

We have all heard about flexibility before, but do we know why (or if) it is important?

James Nuzzo, suggests we retire flexibility as a component of exercise.

First, you can improve your flexibility during full range of motion strength training and cardiovascular exercise.

Second, flexibility has no effect on your all-cause mortality. Meaning, improved flexibility does not reduce your chances of dying fromy anything.

Take home message: Flexibility is a component of exercise, but it is not a major one. You can improve your flexibility numerous ways, one being proper strength training.
