Live Life in Crescendo

The maxim of Dr. Stephen Covey, “Live life in crescendo, not in diminuendo” means our most important work still lies ahead of us. Covey felt that there was always more to learn, more to do, more to contribute.

According to Covey, in order to live life in crescendo, we are wise to practice his “Seventh Habit,” Sharpen the Saw. We should have mechanisms built into our lives that are designed to upgrade our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self. The best place to start, according to Covey, is to engage in physical exercise.

Over three decades after Covey published The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, the scientific research now supports his prophetic wisdom about the saw-sharpening benefits of exercise.

Let the words of Dr. Covey fuel the motivation for your next workout.

“This is the single most powerful investment we can ever make in life – Investment in ourselves, in the only instrument we have with which to deal with life and contribute. We are the instruments of our own performance, and to be effective, we need to recognize the importance of taking time regularly to sharpen the saw.”
